Srotakin IV… musically, they are the bastard children of Guns N’ Roses, circa 1987.
When was the last time you were lovingly accosted by the sounds of Rock N’ Roll? Not Alternative, not Nu Metal, none of those sub genres of rock n’ roll, but pure, balls to the wall, sweet pussy lickin’ Rock N’ Roll? It’s been forever, hasn’t it? Well, fear not because New York’s own Bad Boys of Rock have come out to play!!
Who are these bad boys I speak of? Got you salivating, don’t I? They are Srotakin IV and musically, they are the bastard children of Guns N’ Roses, circa 1987. Srotakin IV is: Danny Pellegrini (Guitar/Lead Vox), Chris Mikrut (Bass/Vox), and Alex English (Drums/Vox) and tomorrow, November 9th, they’re set to release their kick ass debut album, Rock N’ Roll Bender!!
Danny’s whiskey soaked vocals remind one of a coherent Lemmy Kilmister…Chris plays his bass with an ease reminiscent of Geezer and Alex bashes away at his skins with reckless abandon.
Srotakin IV are a tight outfit and that shines out quite well through out the 12 tracks that Rock N’ Roll Bender features, but then again, I didn’t need to hear the album to know how good they were. I first had the pleasure of seeing Srotakin IV in action at the 5th anniversary of the Gotham Rocks show at Irving Plaza this past year. Of course, they were not the band that I had planned to see, but nonetheless, it was a happy surprise. Now back to this monster album…
Danny’s whiskey soaked vocals remind one of a coherent Lemmy Kilmister. His guitar licks ooze with panty dropping sexuality. Chris plays his bass with an ease reminiscent of Geezer and Alex bashes away at his skins with reckless abandon, but it never comes off sounding sloppy; on the contrary, Alex’s bashing is always controlled and methodical.
Rock N’ Roll Bender, transports us back to a fun time in our lives before music was bogged down by radio friendly bullshit.
All in all, this is an album that oozes through and through with songs about subjects that real men care about: drinking, fucking, porno, and Rock N’ fuckin’ roll! I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite track because honestly, I love them all. Rock N’ Roll Bender is the throwback album that no one saw coming. With songs like, “Too Hot To Touch“, “Drinkin’ Dinner“, and “Nipple, Nipple, Dick“, Srotakin IV’s debut, Rock N’ Roll Bender, transports us back to a fun time in our lives before music was bogged down by radio friendly bullshit. As if their own original rocking’ tracks were not enough, we get to witness the softer side of Srotakin IV, as they’ve included in this album of awesomeness a cover version of Jefferson Airplane‘s, “Somebody To Love.” Srotakin IV have come to put a stop to the mediocrity of our musically mundane lives. Immediately. Now. Srotakin IV are on the right track to Rock N’ glorious Hell, and they’re taking us all on this 43 minute ride of non-stop rock, won’t you come along?
Get to know Srotakin IV for yourselves! Come out, come out my fellow kilSters! Tomorrow night at 10pm, Srotakin IV will be having their record release party Arlene’s Grocery!!
